DSV
DSV is a global freight and logistics company currently present in over 80 countries and with over 75,000 employees. The company was founded in 1976 and is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Following the launch of DSV’s first building at Mercia Park in 2021, continued growth means that the business now requires additional space to meet the needs of its customers. Mercia Park’s location provides DSV with direct access to the strategic road network and it has proven to be an excellent base and environment to recruit and retain a talented workforce.
DSV originally operated at Mercia Park from a purpose-built warehouse and cross-dock terminal facility, alongside a 36,000 sq ft office. However, in 2023 it expanded into Unit 5 and now supports nearly 400 jobs at Mercia Park, occupying c.800,000 sq ft.
The site now represents DSV’s Midlands regional hub and the office supports certain national functions, housing all of DSVs multimodal services: Air and Sea, Road and Solutions.
DSV has an immediate need for significant additional space to accommodate growth in its Solutions division, which will further strengthen Mercia Park as its central flagship location and create a campus environment.
The proposed new building – around 600,000 sq ft – would be developed to meet the requirements for high levels of productivity and sustainable and low carbon operations. The expansion would generate circa 420 new jobs. It would serve customers across the retail, wholesale and e-commerce sectors.
The business across its global operations is continuing to invest in systems to meet the needs of customers, which is also realising new skills, training and recruitment opportunities.
DSV is a key partner to IM Properties’ Mercia Park Employment & Skills Partnership, which has delivered tangible outcomes to beneficiaries during the construction phase, and now in operation. The company has also developed strong links with the local community, sponsoring various local projects and sports clubs and regularly engages with local schools.
Employee career journeys
Rachel Bailey, supervisor, warehouse, DSV Solutions
Rachel loves working for DSV. She started with the business in November 2021 at Tamworth on the Lichfield Industrial Estate as a Reach Forklift Truck driver. The prospect of moving to new premises at Mercia Park wasn’t daunting for Rachel and she was one of the first members of staff to move. Work is now a 13-minute drive and Rachel car shares with her friend Jo.
Since relocating Rachel has been promoted to Team Leader and in April 2024 was promoted to Supervisor. She likes working with a stable team of colleagues who Rachel helps and trains. Becoming an experienced and senior worker has led to opportunities to support new DSV sites. Rachel recently went to the Netherlands to help colleagues set up and embed a new system in Maastricht – something she really enjoyed.
“The new workspace and facilities at Mercia Park are amazing. With the growth of new clients there have been promotion opportunities and I have made a lot of new friends. I’ve come a long way in three years, and it is great to be given opportunities to push yourself, learn new things and then help colleagues at the same time.”

Rebecca Ross, supervisor, admin, DSV Solutions
Rebecca joined DSV after studying history, English literature and world development A-levels, but didn’t really know what she wanted to do after leaving school. A job at DSV seemed like a good stop-gap. That was in 2017.
Rebecca is an admin specialist and became the admin team leader in August 2019, and since January 2023 has been the team’s supervisor.
Rebecca feels as though she has grown in the role, likes the people and the other part of her role which she loves is being on the Engagement Group. This meets every month and plan activities, such as raising funds for charities, as well as organising staff social and cultural events and addressing sustainability issues.
“Last year the staff raised over £6,000 for two national charities, and this year we have decided to target three local charities. This effort generates a great team spirit and being in a workplace that cares is very rewarding.”

Joanna Dhesi, supervisor, DSV Solutions
Joanna lives in Tamworth and began working for DSV when the business was operating in the town.
She started as an agency worker in 2019 and after six months in the warehouse and six months in an administrative role, she became a team leader role at the Tamworth ‘T1’ site. Jo was one of the first DSV colleagues to transfer across to the brand-new Mercia Park DSV facility.
One year ago, Jo was promoted into a more senior role as Supervisor and has been involved in implementing the new Autostore (robotics) facility. Jo enjoys having job security and there is a great social side to working with DSV at Mercia Park, such as the team raising money for local charities – and having fun doing so! But what she gets most out of the job is the chance to develop and train people – something Jo really enjoys.
“Working on five contracts (clients) means the work is really interesting with a variety of tasks and processes associated with each customer. I used to work at Clark’s in retail and understand the importance of staff training and a customer focus.”
